Road Trip to my home town of Natchez, Mississippi

Someone from my home town of Natchez, Mississippi came up with a brilliant idea to combine all the classes of the 70's for a class reunion. They combined all the schools both public and private. We all knew each other back then; either from church, sports, dance, theatre or just cruising around town. Most of us have brothers and sisters that graduated right behind us or in front of us so as you can imagine that we all knew each other some way or another.

I haven't lived in Natchez for over 24 years. I don't even get to Natchez much because my parents don't live there anymore, but when I do I try to see as many people as I can. I drive around and visit my favorite spots. I often think about people from Natchez who meant so much to me growing up. They still live my heart even though I haven't seen them in years. So you can imagine how it felt being around 500 people and knowing most of them.. I didn't get my voice back until yesterday. The whole weekend was magical.

I drove down on Thursday and visited with my nieces in Hattiesburg, who were working at a Civitan Camp for handicapped children. I loved seeing all these wonderful young kids giving such love to these special needs children. Here is a photo of my nieces, Rebecca and Madison. I took many photos that night, but this kid is the kid who is staring in a movie next year with Jennifer Garner.. I think the movie is called BUTTER. He was so thrilled to be the local movie star.

My sister Pam graduated the year behind me so she went with me to the reunion. We stopped off in McComb to see my parents. Dad is on Facebook and wanted us to show him one more time how to see pictures of everything. He was looking forward to seeing all the ones from our friends. He thinks we all look like our parents. You think?

I got up Sat. morning around 6:30 and took off to town to take some photos. I'm sharing a few. It's worth the time to Google Natchez, Mississippi. It's a beautiful town.

I love old cars. I don't know who this car belong to, but I did see this pretty women get out of it in a vintage dress. I heard she dresses like that all the time. I don't know her, but I thought it was cool.

Here are a few classmates from South Natchez High. Class of 1977'
I went to school with some of these folks from Kindergarten up.... for one weekend we were all kids again having a swell time.
I stayed with the Vassers. Jimmi Lou and I have  been friend since I was 16. We don't see each as often as we would like, but we still talk from time to time. We never run out of things to talk about. I am so glad I have her in my life. Phil is pretty special, too.
They raise quarter horses. I always love going to their ranch and watching the horses graze in the field.I also got to visit with my friend Courtney Stacy Taylor. She has a daughter named Camille that I have fallen in love with. I talked her into getting dressed so I could take some photos of her. She is darling.
This is the Mississippi River. This is what we saw every night when we stepped outside; a site I  never get tired of seeing.

I take so many pictures in a week that I can not possibly post them all here, but I wanted to tell you what a great time I had returning to my home town of Natchez, Mississippi. A place I dearly love and miss.

With Love to Karra and Bart

I love photographing people I have known for a long time. It's easy to get a natural smile, you know what will make them laugh or open up and be a little silly. I got that from so many people who were at the wedding.  Karra and Bart, you had a beautiful wedding. Sure, it was hot, HOT, but so much fun. The heat didn't stop folks from dancing til midnight. It didn't stop the smiles. It didn't stop the fun..EVERYONE seemed to just want to be together and celebrate the wedding of these two wonderful people.  I wish you both the very best!
